Monster Study Details

What do we research?

This research explores the development of memory in 4-to 7-year-olds. We want to better understand how children self-reflect about their memory processes, a process called metacognition.

What happens during the study?

The study is held as one virtual 15-minute session with a researcher via Zoom. In the study, your child will play a memory game.  Families will receive a $5 e-gift card of their choice (e.g., Amazon and Target). Children will receive a science participation certificate.

Who is eligible?

Children must be between the ages of 4- to 7-years-old. They also need to be able to speak and understand English, be able to withstand a 15-minute task, and not have any developmental disorders.

What are the risks and benefits?

This study is meant for researchers to learn more about how memory and learning strategies develop throughout childhood. There are minimal risks associated with participating in this study. Participants may feel bored or frustrated if they do not know the answer to a question.
